8.2.3.1 Updated Kanban Workflow*

The retrospective process can identify lessons and opportunities to improve the team's workflow. Some key lessons and improvement opportunities may include:

  • Identified bottlenecks: By reviewing the Kanban Board, analyzing metrics, and discussing team experiences, the team identifies bottlenecks hindering workflow. These may result from resource constraints, technical difficulties, or inefficient processes.
  • Improved workflow efficiency: Analyzing workflow helps identify areas for improvement, allowing the team to streamline processes, reduce waste, and boost efficiency by adjusting WIP limits, reprioritizing work, or enhancing communication.
  • Actionable improvements: Insights from the retrospective help develop clear, concise, and actionable steps to address issues and improve workflow.
  • Insights into team dynamics: Retrospectives allow teams to reflect on dynamics and processes, identifying ways to enhance communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Updated performance metrics: The team can update KPIs based on retrospective insights, tracking lead time, cycle time, and throughput to measure progress and identify improvements.
  • Areas for optimization: By analyzing workflow and performance metrics, the team can optimize processes through automation, streamlining workflows, or improving decision-making.
